Beetle Bums

On the BBC's local "Look North" news programme;

A story about the Bombardier Beetle. Oh dear.

The last time I heard about this was some demonstrably false claims being made about it be a certain Prof. Andy MacIntosh who regards it as proof that evolution is false. He was the chap on the Northern Ireland Radio program claiming that evolution broke the second law of thermodynamics (it doesn't). Dawkins pointed out his error at the time. But don't let the truth get in the way of some proselytising. This chap thinks the world is 6,000 years old and dinosaurs walked the earth with man until Noah's flood interrupted.

And there he was on the TV talking about the fact that the way this beetle extrudes gases (farts) can be applied in many different areas of industry medicine or transport. Which I have no reason to doubt.

I held my breath and waited for any religious intonations.

None.

Just claims that this pre-prototype was worth £500,000 now and that the markets it would appeal to could mean it would be worth millions.

I can't believe that this chap won't attempt to use this to push his particular flavour of fundamentalism, but lets see shall we?
