How Mumbo-Jumbo Conquered The World by Francis Wheen

Plenty of chuckles and a few open mouthed pauses as I read this one. The author takes us through a whirlwind tour of nonsense with quick fire quotes illustrating his points along the way. From Thatcherism, Reagonomics through alternative medicine, UFO’s the Dot Com bubble and present day discussions of civilisations in conflict he shines the light of gentle common sense scepticism.

In particular I enjoyed the content on the post modernists and their philosophical cartwheels and contortions. His style can sometimes be a little too loquacious for my tastes, as if he has a bet on to get so many long and little used words into the text, but I enjoyed it non the less.

Must for any sceptic out there. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
